As early as the 1960s, the insufficient space for cultural events was a topic of discussion in Fürstenfeldbruck . Concrete talks about the construction of a new multi-purpose hall began in 1974. In March 1979, the city of Fürstenfeldbruck purchased the farm buildings of the former Cistercian abbey of Fürstenfeld Monastery, along with 22 hectares of land, from the Wittelsbach Compensation Fund for approximately seven million Deutsche Marks. However, it would take more than 20 years for the vision of a modern cultural and leisure center, including a town hall, on historic ground to be realized. In October 1985, after several attempts, a coherent concept was finally presented – but the estimated cost of around 57 million DM presented new problems. An agreement on a phased approach was reached in 1986, but funding was denied in 1988, the concept was revised, and construction was finally approved in 1989. Following the 1990 local elections, construction was halted once again. In 1992 the project was “finally” stopped, and the contracts with architects and engineers were terminated.

On the night of November 28-29, 1993, the upper floor of building number 12 was destroyed by fire. Thanks to the fire insurance payout and unexpected government funding, a new comprehensive plan was commissioned. This new concept was approved in March 1994. In 1995 and 1996, the plans were further developed and a detailed planning application was prepared.

On April 22, 1997, a 40 million DM project was approved by the city council with a vote of 31 to 8. The groundbreaking ceremony took place almost 25 years after the initial discussions, on November 13, 1998. The official opening was on October 5, 2001. Among the honored guests and speakers were the then Bavarian Minister-President Edmund Stoiber , the then District Administrator Thomas Karmasin , and the then Mayor of Fürstenfeldbruck, Sepp Kellerer.
